December is a time for celebrations, gifts and joy. Here is my Christmas present to knitters who like to knit Brioche stitch pattern projects. Many people have asked me for this, and so here it is!
Two-colour Brioche is a very popular stitch pattern, with beautiful textured lines. But the edges sometimes can spoil the appearance. A new type of selvedge, Distitch (DS) selvedge, will solve this problem. My technique provides strong and very decorative edges to any brioche project.

The method of working DS selvedges for two-colour brioche is different from DS selvedges for one-colour brioche: see the Fringed Brioche Scarf published in 2020.
The width and the length of the scarf can be easily changed: simply adjust the CA stitches and work at any desired length. Any yarn can be used: fingering, DK or bulky. For example, my first sample knit is worked from lace cashmere, which fits to my small doll Aika perfectly. After the design was established, the test knit was made with the squashy bulky Malabrigo yarn, Mecha.

This Duo Brioche Scarf pattern was approved by professional editor, Jo Torr, and is now available on Ravelry. The pattern includes written instructions, clear diagrams and a video tutorial, now with a voice over, for Continental and English styles of knitting. Please enjoy!
